For more than twenty-five years, Our Lady's has taught the children of Thiruvottiyur in the Salesian way — through reason, religion and loving-kindness. Girls and boys, all faiths, one campus.

Education in the Salesian tradition
Our Lady's Higher Secondary School is run by the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco — the congregation founded by St John Bosco and St Mary Mazzarello, who believed that young people flourish beside adults who are visibly on their side.
That conviction still shapes an ordinary day here. Teachers stand in the corridors and on the ground, not apart from it. Rules are explained rather than imposed. Correction is quiet and private. Children of every faith are welcome, and none is asked to be anything other than what they are.
We follow the Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus in English and Tamil, and we teach it properly — for understanding, not for recitation.

How Don Bosco asked us to teach
Three words, given to the Salesian family in 1859, that still decide how adults behave towards children in this school.
Reason
A rule that cannot be explained to a child is not worth keeping. We give reasons, and we expect them to be understood rather than merely obeyed.
Religion
An inner compass, offered and never imposed. Students of every faith are at home here, and each is helped to grow in the tradition that is their own.
Loving-kindness
Not affection announced, but affection a child can actually feel — in being known by name, noticed when absent, and corrected without humiliation.
Recent highlights
A year in the life of the school
- 28th Annual Sports Meet
- August 2025 — march past, mass drill displays by every section, track finals and the prize distribution.
- Investiture Ceremony
- June 2025 — the new school pupil leaders and house captains received their sashes and took their pledge.
- Feast of St Mary Mazzarello
- November 2025 — the school honoured the co-founder of the Salesian Sisters with drama, dance and prayer at the grotto.
- Peace with Creation
- The green club planted and tended the school garden and marked the Laudato Si' goals with an exhibition.
